GKCACC - Who we are
GKCACC is the Greater Kansas City Asthma and COPD Coalition.
GKCACC serves Douglas, Johnson, Leavenworth and Wyandotte Counties in Kansas, and
Cass, Clay, Jackson and Platte Counties in Missouri.
Our Mission
Convened in 2003, the Greater Kansas City Asthma Coalition brings together individuals and agencies to establish an on-going asthma network to communicate about, collaborate on, and coordinate projects that improve and support asthma and COPD prevention, diagnosis, and management in the Greater Kansas City Area on both sides of the state line between Missouri and Kansas.
Objectives
- Establish an on-going communication network within the Greater Kansas City Area
- Identify individuals and agencies who may want to participate in the Coalition from both sides of the state line (Missouri and Kansas)
- Identify opportunities for coordination and collaboration across projects and agencies
- Increase awareness of asthma and COPD, including prevention, diagnosis and management
- Develop activities to improve control of asthma and COPD in our community
Membership
The Greater Kansas City Asthma Coalition is open to all organizations and individuals concerned with asthma and/or COPD in Kansas City. Multiple individuals from a single organization can be members, preferably each representing a different unit within his/her organization. Members may represent themselves or a specific organization. Members need to attend at least two of any GKCAC meetings per year. The GKCAC will meet Bi-monthly and will facilitate electronic and postal service communication.
